Privacy
A site that rates freebies by the data they take had better be careful with yours.
- This site sets no cookies. None. So there’s no cookie banner to click through.
- We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies and doesn’t follow you to other sites. Its small script loads from Cloudflare’s servers; that’s the only thing loaded from another company. No ads, no other tracking scripts. Fonts and the mascot are served from this site.
- It never asks for your location. The home page shows the state or province your connection appears to be in, from what Cloudflare already sees on every visit, and nothing about it is stored. Changing it is just a link to that state’s page.
- Search runs in your browser against a list of listings downloaded from this site. What you type isn’t sent anywhere else.
- If you sign up for The Free Shit Drop, we keep your email address and the state or province you picked. It’s stored in Cloudflare and sent to Buttondown, which delivers the newsletter. It’s used for nothing else, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
- When you report a problem or send a tip, we store what you send, including your email if you add one, in Cloudflare so we can read it and fix listings. Nothing else is done with it, and we don’t store your IP address.
- Links to official sources take you to those organizations’ sites, which have their own privacy rules.
